Air France Flight 139, originating from Tel Aviv, takes-off from Athens, heading for Paris. Soon after take-off, the flight is hijacked by two Palestinians from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - External Operations (PFLP-EO) and two Germans from the German "Revolutionary Cells". The flight is later diverted to Libya, where it remains until it takes off again to Entebbe, Uganda. The passengers are held hostage at the old terminal of Entebbe International Airport with the help of the Ugandan Army. Israel Defense Forces special forces troops mount an attempt to rescue the hostages. They land at Entebbe Airport and drive a replica Ugandan motorcade out of their transport aircraft. They drive up to the old terminal but the alarm is raised when a Ugandan guard is shot with silenced 9mm pistols but not killed. An AK47 is used to shoot the guard again but the sound of the shots attract the terrorists' and the Ugandan Army's attention. A gun battle rages but all but three of the hostages escape from Entebbe with the Israeli special forces.

United States Navy SEALs engaged in reconnaissance operations as part of Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan are ambushed by Al-Qaeda forces, losing one man when their MH-47 Chinook helicopter is hit by a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG). A rescue Chinook comes later to rescue the downed crew but tries to land at the same spot as the previous Chinook. It gets hit by gunfire and another RPG. Successive reinforcements consisting of units of the 75th Ranger Regiment attempt a rescue of the crews of the crashed helicopters using another two Chinooks. One tries to land at the exact same spot as the other Chinooks and is brought down by an RPG. The second lands safely away from the ambush zone. The Rangers themselves suffer casualties but gain control of the ambush bunker.

Perfect disasters are storms that are larger, more dangerous and more deadly than any before them. When all the right ingredients combine, the resulting catastrophes will be "impossible" — a tornado with wind speeds that exceed those seen in a category 5, or a solar storm that causes a worldwide blackout. What would happen if one of these "super storms" crashed into a city like New York, London, Hong Kong, Dallas, Sydney or Toronto?
Episode 1: Super Tornado
At two miles wide and with wind speeds of more than 350 mph, a super tornado would reduce downtown Dallas to a war zone within minutes. Scientists say it could happen. When it does, a Dallas emergency city manager is forced to choose between making sure his family remains safe, or saving the lives of millions.
Episode 2: Solar Storm
Beneath the boiling surface of the sun lies a force that could destroy crucial technology and electrical grids, throwing the modern world back to the Stone Age. With only hours to prepare, a New York City engineer struggles to convince the mayor to take an action that may save an entire country.
Episode 3: Super Typhoon
The Pacific breeds the biggest and most powerful hurricanes in the world. So far, the 7 million inhabitants of Hong Kong have escaped a direct hit. But a slight change in weather will send an emergency coordinator scurrying through the streets to make sure her city is safe while the super typhoon sets its sights on the island.
